In our podiatry clinic we have a Musculoskeletal Podiatrist who has a special interest in Biomechanics – the science of human movement. He assesses foot posture and any related asymmetries in body posture or muscle length which may be influencing pain or injury. Podiatry treatment may involve the use of orthotics or shoe modifications. He can also advise on training and exercise and where necessary the rehabilitation programme is made in partnership with one of our physiotherapists.
Sas Amhadi – Musculoskeletal Podiatry
Sas graduated with honours as a Podiatrist from UCL Medical School. He is a Musculoskeletal Podiatrist with a special interest in Biomechanics – the science of human movement. In addition, he is the lead Podiatrist in Biomechanics at a large teaching hospital.
Sas’ main area of interest is the treatment of repetitive sports injuries through analysis of movement and compensation patterns. He has treated a number of athletes including elite sportsmen and sportswomen, as well as those who enjoy sport for leisure.
Podiatry vs Chiropody
There is no real difference, but podiatry is a more modern name. It was changed in 1993 as podiatrist was the internationally known name for a foot specialist. That term is commonly used in the USA, while in the UK a majority of people still use chiropodist and chiropody.
In our own clinic, our podiatrist is mainly focussed on biomechanical issues and problems with movement related to the feet rather than general foot health issues.

Podiatrists are highly skilled health professionals trained to prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs and keep people mobile and active. The main role of the podiatrist is to help you maintain normal mobility and function in the feet and lower limbs.
Podiatrists can give expert advice on footwear and any modifications that could help your condition. They will also work closely with the other professionals in our clinic to deal with any wider issues relating to your health and movement.
